10 smugglers arrested, over 20 arms making units unearthed

Ten arms smugglers were arrested and over 20 illegal arms manufacturing factories unearthed by the police, who also recovered a huge haul of arms and ammunition in a crackdown here, a senior police official said today.

Over 24 arms manufacturing factories were unearthed in raids conducted in Hathiya and Palson villages of Govardhan area, SSP Manzil Saini said.

Ten arms smugglers were also arrested in the raid, besides recovering a huge haul of arms from them, he said.

The police also found items meant for preparing fake number plates and documents of vehicles from the area.

On Thursday, the police blockaded several areas of Hathiya village and nabbed some men, on whose interrogation they succeeded in unearthing the arms factories in the area.
 

From Hathiya village, the police seized eight rifles, one dozen pistols and several other arms.

From Palson village, police arrested Arshad Mev, resident of Hathiya, Barsana and Shahnoor Mev, resident of Gavdi, Jurhera, Bharatpur.

From there, police recovered 12 arms including one pistol 350-bore, two cartidges, five country-made guns 12 bore, four guns 315 bore, one single barrel factory-made, two guns 315 bore. One of these rifles is reported to be stolen.

The nabbed smugglers confessed that they used to manufacture arms on demand and supply them in Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh apart from Uttar Pradesh.
