Over 10,000 girls and women received self defence training during a 15 days training camp organised here under the Sashakti scheme, police said today.
The camp, which concluded today, was organised by the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) of the Delhi police at six places across the city, they said.
The camp, aimed to empower and ensure safety of girls and women in the city, this time also saw a special session held to sensitise girls as well as boys against "good touch and bad touch", DCP (SPUWAC) Esha Pandey said.
Also, apart from imparting self defence training to girls and women, awareness activities like Nukkad Natak and screebubg of short film Komal were also held during the camp.
"Sanitary Napkins were distributed to 500 girls to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day today," Pandey said.
The SPUWAC has been organising self defence training programmes, under the Sashakti scheme for girls and women in Delhi since 2002.
More than 8,18,920 girls and women have been trained through this initiative. Last year, over two lakh girls and women were trained under the scheme, an official relase said.
