10 washed away in river in UP on Ganga Dussehra

Eight persons drowned today while two others are believed to have been washed away in rivers in separate incidents in the state on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra.

In the first case, four persons were swept away by the current at Sidhbana Ghat while taking a holy dip in Ganga in Bulandshahr, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Harishankar said.

He said bodies of three of the victims have been fished out.

In the second incident, a youth drowned in the river at Avantika Devi temple in Siyana tehsil in Bulandshahr.

In a separate case in the district, two persons drowned at Basi Ghat in Narora, SHO Kaushlendra Yadav said.
 

He said one body has been fished out and efforts are on to find the other.

In Etawah, three young boys today also drowned while taking a holy dip in river Yamuna on the occasion.

The boys drowned near Bela village under Pachayagaon police station area this morning, ADySP, Sarvanand Singh said.

The deceased have been identified as Ankit (11), Sagar(13) and Ram Kumar (11), Singh added.
