10 women drown as boat capsizes in Bisalpur dam

As many as 10 women today drowned when the boat they were in capsized in Bisalpur Dam in Tonk district, police said.

Around 16 women, mostly labourers, were going in the boat from Kasir to Nagadia village for agriculture purpose when the tragedy struck at 10 AM, they said.

Bodies of ten women, of different age groups, were fished out while six others, some of whom swam back to safety, were stated to be out of danger and sent back home, Tonk SP Satyendra Singh Choudhary told PTI.

The bodies were handed over to their relatives after post mortem, the SP said.
 

Sailor Kanwar Ali, who survived the tragedy, was detained for interrogation, the SP said.

The cause behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, police said adding the names of the victims are yet to be confirmed.
