10-year-old raped, accused arrested in UP

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Tigri village, police said today.

The victim was found unconscious by her parents and admitted to a district hospital last evening, they said.

According to the complaint filed by the girl's father, the incident took place when the accused, Ankit Kumar, offered to drop the minor at her house in his bullock cart and instead took her to a nearby sugarcane field and raped her.

A case has been registered against Kumar under IPC sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and POCSO Act, Circle Officer of police, Arun Kumar Singh said.
 

Police have arrested the accused, Singh said adding that security in the Tigri village has been beefed up after the incident.
