10 years imprisonment to man, son for possessing poppy husk

Kurukshetra District Court has sentenced to 10 years imprisonment a father-son duo from whom 54 kg of poppy husk was recovered on November one, 2010 at Ramgarh Mod, Kurukshetra.

While pronouncing the sentence, the Additional Session Judge Ranjana Aggarwal also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh each on them.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Police Department said on account of non-payment of fine they would have to serve for another six months sentence.

He said that during a raid, two persons--Satpal and his son Shiv Dular were found carrying 54 kg of poppy husk on a motor cycle.
 

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against them.
