A court here today awarded 10 years imprisonment to four persons, including the husband and father-in-law of a woman who was killed for dowry 15 years ago.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Bholanath Tiwari held the four guilty and sentenced them to jail.

Mamta Kumari was poisoned to death by her husband, father-in-law and two other in-laws just eight months after her marriage in 2002 at her marital house at Balwa Koari village in Vaishali district.

She had failed to meet her in-laws' demand for a motorcycle and a gold chain and after her death her body was thrown near the railway track.

The woman's grandfather had lodged an FIR with the police.
