A special court here today awarded 10 year rigorous imprisonment to a liquor shop owner and his employee, and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh each on them for stocking more opium husk than allowed.

Special Judge P K Sinha convicted Abhay Kumar Jain, the shop owner, and his employee Bharat, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Prosecution said that Jain had a license, granted by the Excise Department, for selling opium products.
