100 pc hike in salary of Meghalaya teachers

Meghalaya government has okayed 100 per cent enhancement of salaries for teachers in all adhoc secondary and higher secondary schools, officials said today.

"Teachers in secondary level will now get Rs 20,000 from Rs 10,000 and higher secondary school will get an enhancement of Rs 24,000 from the current Rs 12,000 while science teachers will now get Rs 22,000 from the present Rs 11,000," Commissioner & Secretary in-charge Education D P Wahlang said.

"The total additional amount involved would be Rs 40.29 crore per annum," Wahlang said.
