102 die due to H1N1 virus in 13 states

Of the total, 24 died in Maharashtra, 17 each in Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, five in Tamil Nadu, three in Madhya Pradesh, two each in Goa, Gujarat, Haryana and Puducherry and one each in Kerala, Punjab and Uttarakhand, according to the data.

There were over 1,500 reported cases of H1N1 Influenza virus across the country.

Of the total of 1,568 cases, the highest of 544 were in Maharashtra, 310 in Karnataka, 210 in Tamil Nadu, 150 in Rajasthan, 143 in Andhra Pradesh, 119 in Kerala, 56 in Puducherry, 14 in Delhi, seven in Gujarat, six in Haryana, three in Madhya Pradesh, two each in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and one each in Goa and Uttarakhand, it said.

 

The deadly virus has killed 2,819 people in the last three years with a maximum of 1,763 in 2010, followed by 981 in 2009 and 75 in 2011.

There were 48,437 cases during the period. Of these, the highest of 27,236 were in 2009 as against 20,604 in 2010 and 597 last year, it said.
