Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today awarded Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medals to 104 police personnel in recognition for their gallantry actions between 2002 and 2011 in the state.
The Chief Minister also presented police medals to 27 police officers, including three retired Director Generals of State Police, for meritorious services at investiture ceremony held at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of Dal Lake here.
Among those who received Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medal for gallantry included Additional Director General of Police S M Sahai and Inspector Generals of Police Abdul Gani Mir, Syed J M Gillani, H K Lohia, Muneer Ahmad Khan and Deputy Inspector General R R Swain who is presently on a deputation to the Centre.

The awardees also included retired IGPs Javid Ahmad Mukhdoomi and R Khan and DIG Showkat Ahmad Malik, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Mushtaq received the award posthumously.
Eight Superintendents of Police, two additional SPs and eight DSPs also made to the list.
An under suspension selection grade constable Jagdesh Singh also received the award.
The Chief Minister also presented police medals to 27 police officers including former DGPs Gopal Sharma, Rajan Bakshi and S P Gill for meritorious services.
Five Additional Director Generals of Police - P L Gupta, S P Vaid, Sheikh Owais, Gopal Reddy and Navin Agarwal also received the award along with IGP Rouf-ul-Hassan, two SSPs and five DSPs.
The meritorious services award was also given to retired ADGPs Masood Ahmad Choudhary, retired IGPs Javid Makhdoomi, A R Khan and Zahoor Hussain Chesti, former DIG Abdul Subhan Lone, while Inspector Moti Lal Koul and Sub-Inspector Roshan Lal received the awards posthumously.
