108 Indian fishermen arrested by Pak in last 4 months: govt

"Similarly, 39 boats have been detained so far by Pakistan in 2012 while 75 were detained in 2011," External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said in a written statement in Lok Sabha.

He also said that according to available reports, there are 434 fishermen, believed to be Indians, in various Pakistani jails.

Krishna said government has been consistently taking up the issue concerning all Indian fishermen and their boats in Pakistani custody with the government there at all levels.

He added that 218 Indian fishermen have been released by Pakistan in 2012 while 103 Indian fishermen were released in 2011 and 454 in 2010. PTI SAP
