As many as 109 kindergarten children in south China's Hainan province were hospitalised for food poisoning, local authorities said today.
However, none are in serious condition, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Several children at a kindergarten in Yanfeng town of Haikou city developed symptoms of possible food poisoning yesterday after having lunch, said Zhang Wei, deputy chief of the emergency office with the Hainan provincial health department.

A total of 109 kids have been hospitalised for medical observation so far.
Sixty-nine children that were confirmed to have food poisoning were all in stable condition, said Long Ying, chief of the emergency office of the Haikou health department.
The kindergarten has a total of 198 students, all of whom were required to be sent to hospitals for medical observation, Long said.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
