A total of 11.14 lakh new family ration cards have been issued to people since June 2011, while 3.38 lakh fake cards were identified and cancelled across Tamil Nadu, state Food Minister R Kamaraj said here today.

Between June 1, 2011 and November 30 this year, a total of 11,14,761 new cards have been issued and 3,38,984 fake ones were identified and cancelled across the state, he said.

As for the ongoing work of pasting renewal sheets in the family cards for 2015, he said, 1,42,93,355 cards, comprising 72 per cent have been completed.

Since staggering system was being followed in pasting renewal sheets in family cards, consumers are given a date and a time to come to public distribution shops for this work and need not rush, since there was no deadline for updating their cards, he added. Those who have missed their dates can go to their PDS on Saturdays and get them done.

Consumers possessing White and Yellow ration cards (N Family Card) can renew their cards online till March 31, 2015 through www.Consumer.Tn.Gov.In./

Earlier, he convened a state-level civil supplies officials' meeting to review the status of the ongoing work in the state.
