11 awarded life imprisonment in bank theft case

A district court today awarded life imprisonment to 11 persons, including three women, in a case of theft of Rs 5.24 lakh from a Gramin Bank here four years ago.

Additional District and Session judge Manmohan Saran Lal also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on each.

The 11, all residents of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, used to sale clothes in the daytime and commit theft at night.

They had emptied Rs 5.24 from Kapsia branch of gramin bank on December 7, 2010 and were caught in the case later on.
