Eleven Chinese and South Korean kindergarten children were among 12 people killed today when a school bus crashed and burst into flames in a tunnel in east China.
Of the 11 children, aged between three and six, five were South Koreans and six Chinese. They were all students of an international kindergarten in Weihai city, local authorities said.
The accident occurred this morning inside Taojiakuang tunnel in Huancui District when the bus was on its way to the kindergarten with 13 people onboard, including teacher.

The driver also died and the teacher sustained serious injuries, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The provincial government has assigned a team to investigate the incident. It will be headed by a vice provincial governor.
