Eleven Congress members of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), including six Executive Members (EMs) submitted their resignations to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) V L Hmuaka, sources in the Congress party said today.
The sources said that the Congress Members of District Council (MDC) resigned from their posts but did not resign as members of the district council.
The ruling Congress party has 20 members including three nominated members and the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) bagged eight seats in the 2015 elections.
The rebel Congress group claimed to have 15 MDCs to vote for Hmuaka's ouster.
