11-day police custody for suspected ISI agent Sheikh Badal

A city court today remanded suspected ISI agent Sheikh Badal to 11-day police custody.

City Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Ranjan Paul, in whose court Badal was produced, remanded him to police custody till December 14.

A passport agent at the Regional passport office here, 59-year-old Badal, who has been allegedly involved in helping Mohammed Jahangir, another suspected ISI agent, in procuring fake documents and voter identity cards was arrested yesterday.

He has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war against the government of India), 121A (conspiracy to commit offences punishable by section 121), 489B (using as genuine forged or counterfeit currency notes or bank notes) and 489C (possession of forged or counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes).
 

According to Kolkata Police STF sources, Badal had helped arrested suspected ISI-spy Mohammad Ejaz alias Mohammad Kalam in Uttar Pradesh in managing a fake voter identity card.
