Goa prison authorities have decided to release immediately 11 prisoners who have undergone more than 14 years of imprisonment after being sentenced for life.
Inspector General of Prisons Mihir Vardhan told PTI today that the prisoners are released as per the order of Goa State Sentence Review Board.
"They will be released after certain primary formalities. Within two to three days they will be free," he said.

The prisoners who will be freed are mostly convicted for murder charges, of whom 10 are in Central Jail Aguada and one in Central Jail prison.
One of the convicts has been in jail for around 26 years, he said.
Vardhan said that relatives of the prisoners would be soon informed about their release.
"The prisoners will be given a choice on whether they want to move out now or after the arrangement is made for their living outside," he said.
