Eleven inmates of a juvenile home in Sawaimadhopur district have escaped after breaking a window of the building, prompting the authorities to suspend its caretaker for "negligence" and replace the entire staff posted there, officials said today.

The inmates escaped from the juvenile home after breaking a window on October 7. However, the staff of the home reported the incident to senior officials and District Collector two-days later, on October 9, they said.

The juvenile home was being run by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Taking a serious note of the alleged negligence by the juvenile home staff in reporting the incident, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi today directed Additional Director, (DoSJE) M P Meena to replace the entire staff of the home.

Chaturvedi also directed officials to improve security and conditions at juvenile homes in the state.
