11 kg gold seized

Intelligence (DRI) personnel today seized over 11 kg smuggled gold worth over Rs 3.41 crore from four persons who were arrested from here in Darjeeling district.

DRI advocate Ratan Banik said, the four were carrying 69 pieces of gold biscuits and bars smuggled from Myanmar.

On a tip off, DRI personnel were waiting for the four, including a woman, at a bus stop in Mallaguri locality here.

The four, all residents of Mizoram, came to Siliguri in a bus from Shillong.

DRI personnel picked them up from the bus, Banik said.
