11 killed, 2 injured in jeep-truck collision

Eleven people, including a minor girl, were killed and two others were critically injured after the jeep they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck near Algarwadi village on Latur-Nanded road in the district this morning, police said.

"All the victims, who were travelling in the jeep were heading to Latur, while the truck was coming from the opposite direction," Latur SP Dnyaneshwar Chavan said.

The impact of the collision was such that seven passengers of the jeep died on the spot, while others died during the treatment. The injured were taken to Government Hospital in Latur, he said.
 

The deceased were identified as- Nagorav Favde, Prashant Pawar, his wife Ashwini and their minor daughter Shweta, Arun Nagargoje, Nagnath Kesale, Vijaykumar Raote, Namdeo Shelke, Datta Shendge, Anita Ghotale and Dhananjay Kadam.

Further investigation is on, police said.
