11 killed in fire in Chinese lingerie factory

At least 11 persons were killed when a fire broke out in a lingerie factory today in south China, officials said.

While the 11 died of suffocation, 15 others were injured in the incident in Puning City in Guangdong Province, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted municipal government officials as saying.

However, reasons for the fire could not be known.

17 people managed to escape from the blaze which was subsequently put off, the report said.
