11 killed in separate accidents in Bihar

Eleven persons, including a woman and six children, were killed and four others got seriously injured in separate road mishaps in Bihar today.

In the first incident in Saran district, seven members, including four children, of a wedding party were killed and four others got injured when their jeep overturned after dashing against a tree in Manopali Pipra village, the police said.

The marriage party was returning home from Sahsar village early this morning when it met with an accident after the jeep driver dozed off and lost control over the vehicle. The jeep hit the tree resulting in death of seven persons on the spot, Station House Officer (SHO) of Baniyapur police station Raghunath Prasad said.
 

Four persons who were also injured in the incident have been admitted to a nearby Sadar hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is on a tour of Saran district to canvass for JD(U) candidate in Maharajganj Lok Sabha by-poll, condoled the deaths in the accident.

Those killed were identified as Shivnath Raut (50), Ganga Raut(45), Ravindra Raut(25), Perveen Kumar (13), Jogendra Raut (15), Shashi Kumar (12) and Shivam (9).

In another accident in Banka district, four members of a doctor's family died in a head-on collision between their car and a passenger bus.

Superintendent of Police Pushkar Anand said that the accident took place at a place under Katoria police station this morning.

The dead included a Homoeopathic doctor Brijnandan Prasad, his wife Babita Devi, two minor girls--Nanhi Kumari and Bulbul Kumari, the SP added.

The family was going to Jasidih in neighbouring Jharkhand from Bhagalpur.
