11 killed in separate incidents in Pakistan's KP province

At least 11 people were killed, including two policemen, in separate incidents in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province today while more than 300 suspected militants have been arrested in counter-terror raids ahead of Muharram.

A policemen guarding a Imambargah in Kohat district was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants, police said.

The attackers managed to escape after the attack.

In the provincial capital Peshawar, a policeman was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire at a patrol team in Hindko Daman area. The patrol team was conducting the raid after receiving information about presence of militants in the area.

One person was killed and another sustained injuries in an explosion inside a shop on Jaman Road in Bannu district. The injured has been shifted to the district headquarter hospital.
 

Three women died and a child was injured when the roof of their house collapsed in Nowshera district. The injured have been admitted to a district hospital.

In another incident, five people were killed and three others seriously injured when their vehicle plunged into a ravine Abbottabad district.

Meanwhile in Mardan district, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a terrorist linked to the banned Jamaat-ul Ahrar outfit, according to a statement by the CTD.

Ammunition, including two hand-grenades and a pistol, was seized from him. The suspect has been moved to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

More than 300 people, including Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan illegally, were arrested during combing operations in different areas of Peshawar to maintain law and order during Muharram.

Cache of arms and drugs were also seized from several of them. Authorities have decided to continue search operations in Peshawar to avoid any untoward incident during Muharram.
