11 policemen awarded for efficiency in anti-naxal action

Eleven police personnel were honoured by the district police chief here today for outstanding performance in nabbing wanted Maoists and notorious criminals.

Five officers of officer in-charge rank who were rewarded by the Superintendent of Police Naveen Chandra were Anil Kumar, muffasil police station in-charge, Rajiv Kumar OC of Kharagpur police station, Sanjiv Kumar heading Dharara police station, Biswabandhu OC of Purab Sarai and Mukesh Kumar of Shampur police station.

Six jawans honoured are Raj Kishore Murmu, Ramu Nirala, Jitender Paswan, Anil Rajak, Lal Babu and Binay Kumar, police sources said.

A total of Rs 25,000 were distributed among 11 policemen, besides certificate to each one of them at a function at the district police headquarter.
 

Munger is among the naxal-infected districts of Bihar and it was in this district that then Superintendent of Police K C Surendra Babu was killed by the ultras in 2005.
