SDMC has desealed 11 properties in rural villages, extended 'abadi' areas and unauthorised colonies, as per the guidelines of the Delhi Special Bye Laws Act, 2014 of the Urban Development Ministry.

Chairman of South Delhi Municipal Corporation's Standing Committee, Radhay Shyam Sharma today said that SDMC is the "first" civic body, which has taken this initiative and tried to give relief to the citizens, who are living in such areas and engaged in professional or commercial activities.

He said that as per the Act, relief has been given to colonies which were built before June 2, 2014 without the approval of layout plan due to absence of rules.

He further said that this exemption will be given upto December 2017 or before the implementation of the new Act or rules.

"This desealing will be done in all the four zones of SDMC in the mentioned area of rural villages, extended abadi areas and unauthorised colonies," Sharma said.

For desealing purpose, citizens have to put a request letter to deseal the sealed property along with an undertaking that they will use the property as per the rules.
