Delhi and Jharkhand police today rescued an 11-year-old girl in a joint raid at an alleged fake placement agency located in Shivaji Enclave here.

According to police, a woman, who is said to be the owner of the agency, 'Adivasi Rozgar Sewa Kendra', has been arrested while "important" documents have been seized which hint at trafficking of hundred other girls from Jharkhand in the last month.

According to police, the girl from Jharkhand, who hails from the economically-weaker section, was allegedly lured by one Jagat Pahan with the offer of a job in Delhi.

Pahan allegedly brought the girl to the national capital, where she was handed over to Ilani Munda alias Sheela, owner of the agency.

A case was registered at Khunti in Jharkhand on November 26 after the girl went missing. Following investigations, Jharkhand police managed to arrest Pahan, who then told them about the girl's whereabouts, police said.

"Accordingly, our team approached an NGO working here and, with its assistance, a joint raid was carried out at the centre in Shivaji Enclave and Sheela was arrested," a police official said.
