110 kg of ganja seized in Vizianagaram district

The officers of Prohibition and Excise Department seized 110 kg of ganja (marijuana) from a vehicle on the outskirts of S Kota Mandal in the district today.

Acting on a tip-off, excise cops stopped the vehicle which was heading for Vizag from Aruku near Kapusompuram, and arrested the driver. Owner Gosanna Dora, who was travelling with ganja packets, fled, said Excise Superintendent Shambu Prasad.

The officers seized 55 packets of 2 kg each of ganja worth Rs 2 lakh. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1965, was registered.
