1100 hectares of forest land cleared of encroachments:minister

The Jammu and Kashmir government today said as many as 1114.11 hectares of forest land had been cleared of encroachments in the state.

Replying to a question in the legislative assembly, Forest minister Altaf Ahmed said 987.01 hectares of forest land was cleared of encroachments in Kashmir and 127.10 in Jammu division.

He said 7 road projects under PMGSY in Udhampur district had been cleared by the Forest Advisory Committee recently.

Ahmed said for providing better road communication to far-flung areas like Chenab Valley, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Kupwara, the Forest Department had been liberal in giving necessary clearance.
