A 115-year-old woman, one of the oldest persons in the state who had seen five generations, died in high range Ranni in the district.

Pullattu Chinnammu, who was felicitated by civic authorities and native people on the International Day of Older Persons this Tuesday, died yesterday following age-related ailments, her family said.

Though Chinnammu used to claim that she had seen 130 years, her election identity card showed that she was 115 years old.

As neither she nor her relatives had any document to prove the correct age, some 15 years ago the election commission had marked her age as 100, they said.

During the felicitation ceremony on Tuesday, village panchayat officials had said that she might be one of the oldest persons living in the world and the government should take some arrangements to determine her exact age.

Chinnammu came to Ranni with her husband and settled there six decades ago, the family said.

Her husband Bhadran died 35 years ago and her family tree comprises around 140 people, including children, grand children and great grand children.
