A 116-year-old woman from Malaysia is believed to be the world's oldest living person and even in her old age she claims to have a clear vision and does not require hearing aids.

Yati Musdi, from Batu Pahat, Johor, was born on April 27, 1899, which makes her 116 years old, and thus the oldest living person in the world.

Just a few days after being declared as the oldest person in the world, American supercentenarian Gertrude Weaver passed away.

Following her death, Los Angeles-based Gerontology Research Group, which tracks the world's longest-living people, named 115-year-old Jeralean Talley as the person to take over her spot.

However, according to the National Registration Department of Malaysia records, Musdi is 116 years old, 'malaysiandigest.Com' reported.

Musdi has not been diagnosed with any chronic sickness, and her memory is still intact as she remembers most events in the past.

"I am thankful to God that He has allowed me to still be alive and breathing until this day even though I am not as strong as I used to be," Musdi told Harian Metro, a local daily.

"My vision is still clear even without having to use glasses, I am still able to hear without a hearing aid, and I am not forgetful and still able to think wisely," she said.

When asked if she follows a special diet for her longevity, Musdi said there are "no special tips to live a long life."

"In the morning, I love dipping dry bread or unsweetened biscuits into milk, and at noon I eat a little bit of rice with vegetables," she said.
