118 bags of govt sugar seized from private shed

Over 59 quintals of government sugar meant for the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department was recovered from a private shed in Bhatyas area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"On April 17, we had arrested a CAPD employee, who on questioning revealed that he had hoarded 118 bags of CAPD sugar in a private shed, following which we raided that place yesterday and recovered the sugar," Station House officer (SHO) Gandoh Tariq Naik said.

A CAPD storekeeper was arrested on April 17 for dumping 501 quintals of government ration in two private shops, he said.

A case has been registered in this regard and investigation is underway. More recoveries are expected in the days to come, the SHO said.
