12 automatic pistols and 95 cartridge seized, six held

Bihar police today seized 12 illegally manufactured automatic pistols and 95 cartridges and arrested six people in this connection from Bihar's Munger district.

Acting on a tip off, a police team arrested two persons, including a woman, said to be couriers of an arms smuggling syndicate from Jubilee Well area of Jamalpur and seized nine automatic pistols and 65 cartridges meant for supply to a client in Odisha, Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharti said.

Following the interrogation of the two, police raided the house of an illicit arms manufacturer and seized two more automatic pistols and 30 cartridges from there, he said.
 

The arms manufacturer, his wife and daughter were arrested under the Arms Act, Bharti said adding a business partner too was arrested from the house along with one loaded pistol and a liqour bottle.

Interrogation of the accused persons was underway, the SP added.
