12 houses collapse at Jharia mines fire area, 2 injured

Around 12 houses collapsed and two women got trapped in rubble after a portion of land subsided in Koiribandh Basti in Jharia mines fire area today, officials said.

Two women identified as Rakha Devi and Bhagwatiya Devi got trapped in rubble after the houses collapsed due to subsidence of land, an official said.

A rescue team of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) reached the spot immediately and rescued them, the official said.

They were at the BCCL Central Hospital and were out f danger, he said.

The Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad, A Dodde and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Manoj Ratan Chothe along with other police and administrative officials reached the spot and monitored the rescue operation.
 

The DC told media persons that the area has already been declared as a danger zone due to the underground mines fire.
