Twelve people were injured, including four women when a bus hit an oil tanker on NH6 at Uluberia in West Bengal's Howrah district today.

The collision took place on NH 6 at Birshibpur, police said.

The bus was travelling from Howrah to Bankura and the injured were its passengers.

Drivers on both vehicles fled immediately after the accident, which created a traffic jam on the busy highway.

Two of the injured have been admitted to hospital and the rest allowed to go after first aid, the police added.
