12 more die of swine flu in Raj, toll climbs to 142

Swine flu has claimed twelve more lives in parts of Rajasthan in the last 48 hours, raising the toll due to the H1N1 virus to 142 this year, a senior official of the Medical and Health Directorate said.

Three persons today succumbed at SMS hospital, two died in Jodhpur's government hospital, and the remaining seven died in parts of Rajasthan yesterday, the Medical and Health Director Dr B K Meena told PTI here today.

Out of 1,881 patients tested positive for the virus, 142 have died in the state this year, he said.

So far, Jaipur has reported 23 deaths due to the H1N1 virus, maximum in the state, followed by Ajmer 22, Barmer and Jodhpur 13 each, Nagaur 12, Kota 8, Chittorgarh 7, Banswara 6, and five to one at many places in the state since January this year.
