12 policemen injured as degree holders clash with police

Twelve policemen and several others were today injured as Physical Education degree holders demanding government jobs in primary and secondary schools of the state indulged in arson and clashed with police which used batons and water canons to quell the protest.

The activists belonging to BP ED Sangharsh Committee turned violent and indulged in severe brick batting, leading to injuries to some 12 policemen, District Magistrate Raj Shekhar said.

Police used batons, tear gas shells and water cannons to control the protestors who also damaged several vehicles and set government cars on fire outside the UP Assembly.

There are also reports of some other persons including journalists being injured in the incident.
 

As many as 30 people have been taken into custody, the District Magistrate said, adding stern action will be taken against all those who took law in their hands.

The protestors were Bachelor in Physical Education degree holders who have been demanding government jobs.
