Twelve prisoners were injured in a group clash inside Katihar jail in Bihar today.

Condition of four of the injured is stated to be serious and they have been admitted to district hospital for treatment.

Katihar jail Superintendent B Kumar said the clash was a result of rivalry.

"The groups of prisoners led by convicts Kundan Mishra and Rakesh Yadav had been at loggerheads for a long time now. They clashed today and the prisoners hurled bricks, sticks, utensils and other available missiles at each others," Kumar said.

Senior district administration officials also rushed to the jail to take stock of the situation.
