12th Car Free Day held in Gurgaon

The 12th Car Free Day was held here today, with judges and school students joining the initiative to keep the cyber city free of pollution and traffic snarls.

About 17 judges, led by sessions judge H S Thakur, took part in a cycle rally as part of the initiative.

Thakur said it was duty of every citizen to keep the city clean. The city has become so polluted that drastic measures are needed, he said.

The cycle rally was taken out on streets of Old Gurgaon. Besides the judges, it was attended by Commissioner of Police Navdeep Singh Virk and JCP-Traffic Saurabh Singh.
 

The cycle rally culminated at Drona Public School, where students welcomed the cyclists.

School Principal Bhisham Bharadwaj said the school promotes alternative mode of transport.

The school has been urging its students and staff members to make use of alternative means of transport like walking and cycling.

To encourage more and more people to join the initiative, DCP-Traffic Singh said three best schools, corporates and individuals would be felicitated on January 26 on the occasion of Republic Day.
