13 die as train hits car

Thirteen persons,

including five children, were tonight killed when the Howrah-Bhopal Express hit a car at an unmanned level crossing in Ramgarh district, police said.

The incident occurred under Patratu police station when the train hit the car near Bhurkhunda railway station in the district, Superintendent of Police M Tamilvanan said.

Senior officials rushed to the spot, he said.

The railway spokesperson said passengers of both the

trains were safe.

The EMU driver killed in the accident has been identified as Yashpal.

The injured guard of the express train has been identified as BB Gupta, Railway Spokesperson Anil Saxena said.

Trains en route Palwal-Asaoti section, which were held up, are being cleared through another line.
