Thirteen persons were arrested and 17 firearms seized in a pre-election swoop against offenders in Thane, police said today.
The crime branch sleuths seized three revolvers, seven pistols, seven country-made firearms and 35 live cartridges from various areas in the city and arrested 13 persons in this connection during the last one week, Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Parag Manere told reporters here today.
The weapons were brought from various places, including Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, he said.
The Assembly polls in Maharashtra are scheduled to be held on October 15.
