Thirteen people were today arrested for allegedly rioting at a Noida residential society where domestic helps had gone on a rampage yesterday claiming that a maid working there was held captive and beaten up by her employer, police said.

Police had detained 45 people after identifying them using CCTV footage at the housing complex. Of them, 13 have been arrested today, SP (City) Arun Kumar Singh said.

The owner of an apartment in the society, Harshita Sethi, had on Tuesday night accused Zora of stealing cash, police had said.

The maid's husband, Babu Khan, along with the police had gone to Sethi's house that night to inquire about Zora, but they were told that she had left, a police official said.

Yesterday, the maid was reportedly found unconscious within the society premises, another police official said.

As the news of the incident spread, family members of Zora and other domestic helps gatecrashed into the society, ransacked the apartment and threw stones alleging that Sethi had held her captive the whole night and beaten her.

Three FIRs have been lodged on the complaints of the residents of the society while one has been lodged against the maid's employer for holding her captive and assaulting her, police said.

Meanwhile, heavy police force was deployed at residential complex today and no maids were not allowed to enter the residential society by the management.
