The incident took place yesterday at Khairi Pod village under Pandharkawda forest division. Around 24 farmers had encroached on a forest land in the village, police officials said.

The Sub Divisional Officer has issued notices to the farmers to vacate the encroached land. As the farmers did not move out, the forest officials reached the place and started removing the encroachers, they said.

Meanwhile, the farmers hurled stones and 13 persons, including some forest officials sustained injuries. The police reached the village and brought the situation under control, officials added.

Three of the injured have been shifted to Yavatmal GMC here and a farmer surrendered, they said.
