13 killed in separate road accidents in Madhya Pradesh

At least 13 people were killed and 24 others injured in five separate road accidents in Madhya Pradesh, police said today.

In Betul district, seven people were killed when a speeding truck ran over them on Multai Road late last night while they were helping victims of an accident involving two motorcycles, they said.

Seven people died on the spot while two injured motorcyclists were admitted to Nagpur for treatment, Bordehi police station in-charge R K Suryawanshi told reporters here.

The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Multai Civil Hospital for post-mortem, he said, adding that efforts were on to trace the truck.
 

Four of the deceased were residents of Multai village while three others hailed from Nagpur who had come to the village to attend a function, Suryawanshi said.

In another incident, three people were killed and two others seriously injured today when their car turned turtle and fell into a roadside trench at Sonda village in Sehore district, Mandi police station in-charge Pradeep Gurjar said.

The victims, who were travelling to Indore from Bhopal, were taken to a district hospital, where they were declared brought dead, he said.

The deceased were identified as Yash, Harsh and Kunal, aged between 22 and 26, the official said, adding that they all were residents of Kolar area in Bhopal.

In the third incident, two people were killed and three others injured when their SUV collided with a container truck near Dabra in Gwalior district last night.

"The deceased are identified as Puran Singh Chouhan (24) and Hitesh Jat (26)," Aantri police station in-charge GS Tomar said.

The truck driver fled after the incident, he said, adding that the injured were undergoing treatment in Gwalior.

In an incident that occurred near Mandideep town in Raisen district today, one person was killed and 15 others were injured when a bus collided with a truck.

Three of the injured people were referred to Bhopal in a serious condition, a police official said.

The deceased has been identified as Bhagwandas Rajak (65), a sub-inspector said.
