13 killed in two accidents in Rajasthan

Thirteen people, including eight women, were killed and eight persons were injured in two road accidents in Rajasthan, police said today.

The first mishap took place on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway in the wee hours today when a Honda City car in which a family was travelling from Meerut to Jaipur was crushed by an unknown heavy vehicle, they said.

Five members of the family of two brothers, including three women, were crushed to death and two members were injured in the mishap that took palce near Manoharpura on the highway, police said.

The victims were residents of Jaipur.

The heavy vehicle which hit the car fled the spot, the police said.
 

The deceased were identified as Ajay, Rajveer, Rajbala, Manju Singh and Kumari Nandani, they said, adding that the injured were rushed to a hospital here.

The second accident took place in Jaisalmer last evening. Eight persons, including five women, were killed on the spot and six persons were left injured when a Bolero car rammed into a roadside tree on the Mulsagar-Kanoi road, police said.

The accident took place when the victims, all members of a joint family, were returning to Jaisalmer from Kanoi.

The driver of the car lost control over the vehicle while trying to save a wild animal on the road and rammed into the tree, they said.

The deceased were identified as Kamla, Sita Devi, Parvati Devi, Devaki Devi, Champa, Bairaram, Trilokram and Guhraram, they said and added that the injured were rushed to a hospital in Jodhpur.
