Thirteen short films directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta based on the poems of Rabindranath Tagore were launched today as part of the commemoration of the Nobel Laureate's 150th birth anniversary celebrations.
Minister of Culture Chandresh Kumari Katoch launched the compact disc (CD) of 13 short films based on Tagore's poems.
The films were produced with the financial support of Culture Ministry through National Film Development Corporation.

The films highlights Tagore's humanism and showcase the creativity that he had in him and a genius that he was.
"These films reflect a wide range of his intellectual thinking from romance to philosophy, to tradition to the contemporary ills to western thoughts. They are as much as relevant today as they were when conceived and written by Gurudev a radical man of Indian Renaissance of his time," it said.
The Screening Committee, under the Chairmanship of noted film director Shyam Benegal, was constituted to examine film production and related proposals for the commemoration.
