The contingent was flagged off by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Ranjit Sinha from the force camp here.

The squad has been trained in mob dispersal and riot control techniques, special driving skills, providing aid to civilian authorities and basics on human rights laws.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is the third largest country in Africa, bordering Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. Congo has been placed under the United Nations due to internal disturbances in the country.

This is the 7th contingent of the ITBP to Congo.

The force guards the 3,488-km Sino-Indian frontier and also renders a variety of other internal security duties.
