Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department's Anti Narcotic Squad (ANS) seized 138 grams of heroin near the Mizoram Myanmar border in Champhai district and arrested a person in this connection.
The Spokesman of the department Peter Zohmingthanga said that the ANS personnel stopped a vehicle coming from Myanmar at Zokhawthar hamlet and seized the contraband while being transported to be sold in Aizawl last night.
The contraband was worth around Rs 5.5 lakh in Aizawl market while it would around Rs 4.5 lakh in and around Champhai.
Malsawmdawngkima (20) of Champhai town, arrested in this connection was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, Zohmingthanga added.
