Launching a drive against supply of illicit liqour during the ongoing festive season, Patna police today arrested 14 persons from various places in the state capital and seized a large quantity of spirit from them, a police officer said.
Acting on a tip off about supply of illicit liquor and related contraband substances in the city, a special team was set up to carry out raids agains such activities during which 14 persons have been arrested with large quantity of spirit, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said.
While three persons were arrested from different places with 150 pouch of illicit liqour of 200 ml each from Agamkuan police station area, four persons have been nabbed from Alamganj police station area with 56 pouch of spirit, he said.

Five more persons have been arrested with 150 pouch of country-made illicit liqour and another 27 pouch of foreign liqour from Kotwali police station area, he said.
Cautioning the people against consuming illcit liqour, the police officer said that it was suspected that such liqour being sold in the city could be spurious.
Vowing to eliminate sale and supply of illicit liqour in the state capital, Maharaj asked all Station House Officers (SHOs) of all police stations to constitute a special team to launch continuous raid against such activities in their respective jurisdiction.
